  • Why the movie is called “the book thief”?
The film is titled: “The Book Thief” because Liesel when learning to read, she became interested in the stories of some books. When Liesel goes the library of the house of Lisa Hermannn, she is impressed by the number of existing books. Lisa Hermannn let to Liesel read some books but when the mayor discovered this situation, Liesel cannot go back to the mansion. • What is the social matter happened on the movie? Give details.
The Crystal Night, was a pogrom (a series of coordinated deadly attacks) against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and Austria on 9 and 10 November of 1938. In the movie this night of violence against the Jews. Max Vandenburg and his mother, who are Jewish, are told by a friend that one of them (but only one) can escape, and Max’s mother forces him to go.
  • What do you think about the social and political aspects from the movie?
Events related to the Second World War, for example:
- The exile of the Germans who belonged to the German Communist Party, in the movie the mother of Liesel it was one of them.
- The Persons’ recruitment, in the movie Hans Hubermann is forced to serve in the war.
- The Hitler youths, in the movie Liesel and Rudy. They were forming a part of this model of education.
- The burning books, this books targeted for burning were those viewed as being subversive or as representing ideologies opposed to Nazism. When the bonfire ends Liesel grabs a book that has not been burned.
  • How is the relation between Liesly and Rudy?
When she arrives, Liesel makes an impression on a neighboring boy, Rudy Steiner. Initially they were friends, though Rudy from the beginning fell in love to the Liesel’s first sight and he looked for any pretext to be able to steal a kiss from her. Rudy accompanies her on her first day of school. One of the boys, Franz Deutscher, challenges her to read just one word to which Liesel responds by beating him up. She impresses Rudy, and they become fast friends.

Liesel little by little offers his confidence to Rudy. Hereinafter Rudy will be the only one that will know the secret guarded in Liesly’s house. Rudy demonstrates to Leslie and the important that she is for him when he looks for his diary in the lake. After this event, Leslie for a moment felt something more than a friendship for Rudy but the dead came very rapidly for Rudy. Therefore, this relation only stay in a real friendship.
  • Why do you think “burning books” Do you agree or disagree?
I do not agree, simply the burning book was another way for making to the society more ignorant. The government Nazi sought always to support the persons with ignorance, that way it was easier to manipulate them. The persons were cheated by a lot of time across the propaganda and the mass media. Any other form of thought towards vulnerable the position that the government was offering these persons. The reading might be a risk for the government since the persons might know much more.
  • How is described the death?
The death is the narrator of the movie. He admits that many persons describe it as a high and thin figure, with hat and black cap, practically as a spectrum or a dark shade; nevertheless, himself is described as someone simple who looks for the soul of the persons. During the movie final, the death is heard speaking again about how he received the souls of the dead.
How do you analyze the war role?

The war is undoubtedly the fight for the power, Germany was looking for it. The war occasioned so much pain in the society. The people only feel fear when they speak about the government. Many of the civilians died was because of deliberate genocide, massacres, mass-bombing, disease, and starvation.
  • Is the book thief a good movie? Why? Give details.
Yes, this movie is interesting because counts a history on the basis of social and political facts related to the Second World War and all the consequences that this one had. The rejection to the Jews, the poverty and the fear that society living were undoubtedly events difficult to overcome. This movie has similarity in the events reported in Ana Frank’s; In addition it is observed in both histories as the innocence and the thought of a few girls it’s different.
